COMPASSION

Affirmation of life is the spiritual act by which man ceases to live thoughtlessly and begins to devote himself to his life
with reverence in order to give it true value.

The mind wanders. Direct it.

Psychologists and neuroscientists estimate that we spend between 15 and 50 percent of our waking hours daydreaming, that is, straying away from focused tasks or external stimuli to inner thoughts, fantasies, and feelings. And when our brain is idle, it turns on and kicks into high intensity a whole neural network dedicated to reviewing what we already know and imagining possible worlds,in other words, daydreaming.

Why not use this time profitably by directing your thought to your main purpose in life and giving more detail to your Big Picture?

Definiteness of purpose is having a clear picture of what it is you want from life, your major desire and knowing what you are going to give for your rewards. Dream and make your dreams a reality. First comes thought; then organization of that thought into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning is always in your imagination.

Begin with the end in mind by daydreaming about it, imagining your goals accomplished and how your life will look.  Anyone who is setting out to accomplish new goals should always take the time to visualize what that goal looks like when it is achieved. By taking this step and working backwards (back-casting) you can clearly identify the steps that are required to get there. If you do not have a clear mental picture, you run the risk of easily being distracted by lower priority tasks or unrelated unproductive opportunities.

Whatever your mind feeds upon, your mind attracts to you. You need definiteness of purpose and a clear picture of what you want from life. Daydreaming will create in you the desire for your Big Picture because we become that which we think about most, the satisfaction you will enjoy when you accomplish a task like bringing Solar Power to a small African village can be imagined clearly.. Although this may look like brainwashing yourself, it will help undo the negative messages you have given yourself over the years and align your thoughts with your definite purpose in life.

Daydreaming appears to be a vital function of the psyche, a cauldron of creativity and an arena for rehearsing social skills. We all need to take more time to let our minds meander to building a business, a family or whatever accomplishments we want for ourselves.. That is one way to experiment with creating your detailed Big Picture of the life you desire called your VISION..

"It may be those who do most, dream most.." ~Stephen Leacock.

Close your eyes and picture yourself in the future. It may be a few months or years from today. See the person you are; what you are doing, who you are with, what you have accomplished, what is important to you, and how people relate to you. How does it feel to be you? Feel the person you are, your true self. Now, open your eyes and see your life and yourself in the present, through those eyes. You will begin to notice the changes you need to make to honour this vision and lead a powerful life.

A Personal Vision is a picture of your True Self in the future. An effective personal vision includes all the important elements of your life and career; it is who you want to be, what you want to do, how you want to feel, what you want to own, and who you want to associate with. Although your personal vision helps you to see into the future, it must be grounded in the present. It is a statement of who you are, and who you are becoming. It is the framework for the process of creating your life.

Your vision is where you are headed, how you get there is your mission statement.  Your empowering Mission Statement:

• Represents the deepest and best within you. It comes out of a solid connection with your deep inner life.
• Is the fulfillment of your own unique gifts. It's the expression of your unique capacity to contribute.
• Addresses and integrates the four fundamental human needs and capacities in the physical, social/emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions.
• Deals with all the significant roles in your life. It represents a lifetime balance of personal, family, work, community-whatever roles you feel are yours to fill.
• Is written to inspire you-not to impress anyone else. It communicates to you and inspires you on the most essential level.

Creating a Personal Mission Statement will be, without question, one of the most powerful and significant things you will ever do to take leadership of you life. In it you will identify the most important roles, relationships, and things in your life – who you want to be, what you want to do, to whom and what you want of give your life, the principles you want to anchor your life to, the legacy you want to leave. All the goals and decisions you will make in the future will be based upon it. It’s like deciding first which wall you want to lean your ladder of life against, and then beginning to climb. It will compass – a strong source of guidance amid the stormy seas and pressing, pulling currents of you life.

A Personal Vision/Mission can help propel you into a new job, or make your present job work better for you. The more connected your Personal Vision/Mission is to yourself, the better it can guide your career or life.

"All men dream, but not equally.  Those who dream by night in the dusty Recesses of their
minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity but the dreamers of the day are dangerous
men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible."  ~T.E. Lawrence

You need to know what it is you want from life so that you can effectively direct your energies to making that dream a reality.
