Video Courtesy: Charlie Barberini, A group of fishermen has filmed the moment a killer whale suddenly emerged out of the depths and tried to steal the fish they were reeling in off the coast of Alaska. Charlie Barberini posted the footage on his Facebook page on June 8, saying it was shot during a fishing trip with his boss, owner of Alaska Trophy Outfitters Frank Sanders.
The video shows one of the men reeling in a fish and cracking jokes with his friends off camera.
One of the men then spots a shadow moving beneath the line and says "oh look, there's the halibut," presuming it is a small carnivorous fish chasing the fish they have hooked.
As the creature swims up to their catch it continues to grow larger and larger until it suddenly becomes clear that it is not just another fish but a killer whale.
The whale bursts out of water as the fishermen can be heard freaking out, yelling "holy s---" and "oh my God!"
The men may have been initially shocked by their brush with the ocean predator but Mr Barberini managed to compose himself enough to snap a selfie with the whale in the background.
