Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007) Born and died in Modena, Italy, Pavarotti was an Italian tenor who was known for his seemingly effortless high Cs during the early stage of his career.
Renata Scotto (b.1934) is an Italian soprano widely admired for both her musical and dramatic gifts. Since retiring from the stage as a singer in 2002, she has turned to directing opera as well as teaching at her own opera academy in Italy and New York.
Here Pavarotti and Scotto sing the duet 'Un di, felice, eterea' from a live performance of Verdi's La traviata. This was on 19 March 1965 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.
