This Woman Bought Four Sea Containers and Converted Them Into a Beautiful Home
The Canadian Claudie Dubreuil has built a very special house from
four sea containers, which cost only 3000 euros per container. What she
made of it is really beautiful. We would like such a house – and what
about you? What Claudie made of four simple shipping containers is
incredible.
As a general contractor, the Canadian Claudie Dubreuil earns a good
living by building condominiums and traditional wooden townhouses.
Unfortunately, this type of Huserbau did not offer her a creative
challenge, because jobs were often associated with limited budgets and
secure, everyday designs. But when it came to building and designing her
own house, she did not choose the safe path. Instead, she chose a very
special and modern approach to her new home. On the next pages you will
learn more about Claudie’s house with amazing pictures. The kitchen and
the bathroom on page 4 you should definitely see…
Claudie decided to design a house with a base of metal shipping
containers. With this decision, she did not choose the easiest way; In
fact, she encountered many obstacles throughout the project.
For example, finding an engineer who had the resources to build doors and
windows was very difficult. She was rejected by four engineers before
she found someone willing to work with her. Luckily you found someone
who could trust this project. The result is impressive! Your new home is
really beautiful and environmentally friendly.
We are thrilled, what made Claudie out of her home! It looks so
modern that you hardly recognize the sea containers; some parts of the
wall have remained untouched. We would also like to have such a house.
The living area is sleek and modern, and if it were not for the wall
behind the sofa, you would never suspect that this house was made of sea
containers. The sofa looks like it’s perfect to make friends with a
good book or a glass of wine with friends. A nice home to invite friends
and spend a nice time together.
The kitchen visually matches the rest of the house: modern, metallic
and minimalist. And she also seems to be the perfect place to cook
something tasty: she has generous work spaces. Have you seen this great
oven? We are already dreaming of what we could prepare here! The dinner
parties we would give here…
The bathroom offers plenty of space and a nice view to the outside. We can well imagine relaxing here after a long day with a
bubble bath. We can not imagine anything better to end the day!
Upstairs, where the bathroom and the bedroom are located, many wooden
details are incorporated, for a perfect combination of rustic and
modern.
