Affirmation of life is the spiritual act by which man ceases to live thoughtlessly and begins to devote himself to his life
with reverence in order to give it true value.

The Nuremberg Prosecutor: Benjamin Ferencz

The Nuremberg Prosecutor: Benjamin Ferencz | PBS America

The aim of the post-war Nuremberg trials was to bring to justice, under international law, the key perpetrators of the Holocaust and other war crimes.

Although several prominent Nazis had eluded the hangman by suicide, many others were in Allied custody. This documentary focuses on the last surviving member of the prosecution team, Benjamin Ferencz. Assigned to help investigate Nazi war crimes, identify those responsible and collect evidence, Ferencz retains vivid memories of the horrors of the concentration camps, and of prosecuting officers of the infamous Einsatzgruppen, paramilitary units responsible for the wholesale slaughter of ‘undesirables’ across Nazi-occupied Europe.

After the war, Ferencz dedicated his life to international justice, and his experiences led him to chilling observations about war’s ability to turn decent people into murderers.
